South Africans are returning to work from Monday the 1st June 2020

South Africans are returning to their places of employment on Monday the 1st June as it was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa 2 weeks ago that the country will be reopening the economy again but every industry and sector should follow the protocols set up by government and the health department to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Most of the companies were closed since March 26 when it was announced that the country would be an a full lockdown. Only essential services were offered during the full lockdown and only those companies offering essential services were operating during full lockdown and from Monday the 1st June, all companies will be operating except those mentioned by the Minster of Trade and Industry.

While the rest of the economy will be reopening, there are sectors and companies that are taking the government to court due to the fact that theirs are still not allowed to reopen in level three of the lockdown which is starting on the 1st of June. They are demanding for reopening as they are indicating they are losing business and they will be retrenching thousands of workers if they cannot reopen on the 1st June.

South African people have different views regarding the reopening of the economy as some are questioning the decisions made and how the government came to conclusions in matters concerning which companies to reopen and which ones to remain closed.
