The South African government is doing everything in their power to make sure that while the country is in lockdown, all of the services needed by older persons, mentally ill, persons with disabilities, the sick and children are provided to them at any time they should request for a help in any manner as all departments providing services are always ready to help them.
Older persons will continue to receive their monthly social grants which have now been increased by government to help them through lockdown as most of older persons are breadwinners in their families. Older persons are always given first preferences in services in the country as they cannot wait in a queue for too long so the government is making sure that they are served first before any other persons. Older persons are also receiving full medical coverage through health centres in the country and are provided with all their medicines in time.
People are always reminded by the government to let the local authorities be aware of any kind of help needed by older persons. The municipalities have vehicles ready to help older persons at any time should they request to be helped to get to a clinic or hospital in time. The government is encouraging families that have older persons to make sure that they keep them indoors as the coronavirus is very dangerous to older persons as about 99 percent do not recover from the virus as their immune system is no longer strong enough to fight the virus.
Mentally ill and persons with disabilities are also given first preference by the government when it comes to essential services as they cannot do things on their own so those who have mentally ill persons in their families should ask for local authorities to help them during lockdown should needs arise for families to have most of the basic needs for their mentally ill persons.
Those who are sick at home and in hospitals are also provided with full support by government and also protecting them so that they stay safe from contracting the coronavirus which may claim their lives as they are already sick. The presidency has identified a number of services needed by the sick and making sure that all necessities are available in all provinces to help local governments to provide the sick with all their needs and wants during these difficult times.
Children of South Africa are also getting all the support needed to protect them against the COVID-19 pandemic. The government has established new measures given to families with children so that they can teach their children how to protect themselves against contracting the virus. The government has furthermore stopped all school activities until further notice as it is risky for children to go to school while the pandemic is out there.
