Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Spar and Checkers helping poor communities during lockdown in South Africa

A number of top grocery stores are committing themselves to help poor South Africans during lockdown in the country. Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Spar and Checkers are involved in a number of initiatives which are helping poor people in informal settlements around the country.

People in Delft, Cape Town have received grocery and other household needs during lockdown from Pick n Pay as the company saw a big problem as a lot of families ran out of food and daily needs. Those who received the gifts from Pick n Pay are so happy and wish more could come their way as the rate of unemployment is so high in Delft.

Meanwhile Shoprite also donated food parcels and toiletries in Kwa-Langa also in Cape Town. Families were seen queuing for those parcels last week as the Shoprite truck was seen in the area. The SANDF was around to make sure that the event was not disturbed as Langa has a number of unemployed people.

Spar and Checkers Supermarkets also did the same in Joburg where they managed to give food parcels to poor people in Diepsloot and Alexander. The poor people were given food parcels and other things by the grocery giants of South Africa.
