Essential municipality services operating during lockdown

There are a number of services that are offered by municipalities under the government of South Africa that are operating during lockdown and doing very well as they are also following mandatory regulations set by government to help the fight against the spreading of the coronavirus.

Municipalities were given strategies to operate during lockdown and they are doing well except in the delivery of free food to all poor South Africans who are struggling during lockdown as they cannot work at this time. All people are required to go to the offices of their local municipalities to ask for food parcels if possible if they cannot provide for themselves.

Municipalities are also making sure that they collect all rubbish bins in all nine provinces of South Africa mostly every Monday as the services are the same in all big cities. All employees of companies who are picking up rubbish bins are tested every week to make sure that they don’t die of coronavirus unknowingly. These companies are also given free sanitizers by government to make sure that they always wash their hands before touching anything after work and while on duty.

Projects that are run by local municipalities in rural areas are also continuing with work under the supervision of the health ministry as they are providing essential services like agricultural activities where farming is the main activity in rural areas. All people who are working in municipality projects are given training and daily updates on what and how to do certain things while staying safe from the deadly virus.

Department of Health together with local municipalities are also making sure that residents under local municipalities are tested and screened. Municipalities are helping the health department with personnel and vehicles to transport nurses and doctors to certain areas and also protect them from thugs who might use this time to rob them of their cell phones and cash.
