About the position
Materials, Planning & Logistics Manager
You will be responsible to the General Manager, Operations
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:
PURPOSE OF POSITION
- To oversee and coordinate the daily warehousing & dispatch activities.
- To implement productivity, quality and customer service standards and deliver the appropriate material / signage volume within time limits.
- To ensure controlled and accurately recorded movement of all items through dispatch and the warehouse.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To organize and control all movement and recording of movement for the Raw Materials, Off-Cuts, Dispatch and Yard warehouses accurately.
- To ensure that warehouse bins and items are labelled and count ready at all times.
- To oversee stock, take in conjunction with the Finance Department.
- To investigate and report on inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- To ensure correct loading, packing, strapping, packaging and materials handling procedures are adhered to.
- To communicate job expectations and coach employees.
- To assign workload.
- To measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing and dispatch activities and employee’s performance.
- To interface with internal customers to answer questions or solve problems.
- To identify areas of improvement and establish innovative procedures and practices.
- To manage inventory deployment to meet production and dispatch requirements.
- To manage Third Party Logistics relationship.
- Approve the ordering of goods and services.
- Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms
- Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
