South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has announce on Thursday the 30th April 2020 that a number of businesses will reopen from the 1st May 2020 as there are measures in place to help fight the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. These businesses that are reopening were closed as of 26 March when the president announced that the country was in lockdown.
Mr. Ramaphosa further announced that those companies that are reopening will have to use their 50 percent employees as they are not allowed to have full employees. This means that these companies will have to find a way to operate again as there are a few things the government is still trying to fix in terns of how to totally combat the spread of the virus.
South Africa’s positive cases are increasing on a daily basis as now there are 5000 cases and it was earlier announced during the week that schools were due to reopen in May but the decision was later withdrawn due to the fact the South Africans felt it was not safe for their children to return to school as the virus was still spreading on a daily basis while people are on lockdown. It was debated that if the schools reopen then most children will contract the virus as there is no sign of a decrease in tests done so far.
Electricians will return to work as from the 1st of May 2020 as they are now deemed essential work providers. This means that Electricians will return to work as from Monday the 4th May 2020 as Friday the 1st May is a public holiday followed by a weekend. People complained of a number of electrical problems during lockdown and hd no one to help them as the sector was closed on the 26th March.
Car mechanics have also been given green light to return to work as from the first day of May which means that all people who had problems fixing their cars can now take their cars to their desired mechanics. A few more car dealerships will open soon as they are also deemed essential work providers. This means that they will be able to sell their cars to the public but with measures in place to help fight the spread of the coronavirus.
South Africans are looking forward to the amended schedule for businesses to operate as they experienced a lot of problems without any help they could get. The reopening of these businesses is a way forwad for those businesses and the public in general as a few more services will be available to ease their daily struggles during lockdown inside their homes.
