DescriptionA role has become available for a General Worker at our Kempton Park Research station for the tomato breeding programme.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Involved in all practical work related to crop breeding and evaluation – on and off station, which includes the following tasks:
1.1. Assist with the planting of crop breeding material and crop trials.
1.2. Assist with thinning out of crop breeding material and crop trials.
1.3. Involved in all irrigation-related tasks.
1.4. Involved in crop pollination.
1.5. Involved in harvesting of crop breeding material and trails.
1.6. Involved in weighing and taking of crop trials and breeding material.
1.7. Involved in detasseling of open-pollinated crossing blocks and breeding material.
1.8. Perform any task on the research stations that management may deem necessary.
1.9. Comply with safety regulations in the workplace as laid down by legislation.
1.10. Carry out any farm maintenance or other requirements to operate farm.
1.11. Assist with packing of seed.
1.12. Assist with marking fields.
1.13. Involved in spraying of crops.
