About the position

Materials, Planning & Logistics Manager

You will be responsible to the General Manager, Operations

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • To oversee and coordinate the daily warehousing & dispatch activities.
  • To implement productivity, quality and customer service standards and deliver the appropriate material / signage volume within time limits.
  • To ensure controlled and accurately recorded movement of all items through dispatch and the warehouse.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To organize and control all movement and recording of movement for the Raw Materials, Off-Cuts, Dispatch and Yard warehouses accurately.
  • To ensure that warehouse bins and items are labelled and count ready at all times.
  • To oversee stock, take in conjunction with the Finance Department.
  • To investigate and report on inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • To ensure correct loading, packing, strapping, packaging and materials handling procedures are adhered to.
  • To communicate job expectations and coach employees.
  • To assign workload.
  • To measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing and dispatch activities and employee’s performance.
  • To interface with internal customers to answer questions or solve problems.
  • To identify areas of improvement and establish innovative procedures and practices.
  • To manage inventory deployment to meet production and dispatch requirements.
  • To manage Third Party Logistics relationship.
  • Approve the ordering of goods and services.
  • Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms
  • Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs

  • Proven working experience as a procurement manager, procurement officer or head of procurement

  • Pastel package and MS Office proficiency.
  • Ability to input, retrieve and analyse data.

Education:

  • Diploma or equivalent in Logistics Management
