Head: Internal Audit

DAYBREAK FARMS requires the services of a suitably qualified, well-motivated and results driven candidate to be appointed in the above mentioned vacant position. The purpose of the role is to monitor, track and improve Daybreak’s internal control environment in order to mitigate risks, maximise on opportunities for the business and align its internal systems and processes to internal policies as well as appropriate governance and statutory requirements.

• Duties Include but not limited to the following*:

• Formulate internal audit work plans in accordance the company’s internal audit charter

• Plan, manage and conduct internal audits to ensure improved effectiveness and efficiencies on internal controls;

• Concisely and promptly present audit findings and recommendation to key stakeholders, including executive leadership (EXCO) and the company’s Audit & Risk Committee;

• Work closely with department/divisional heads to establish plans to remedy weaknesses and/or lapses in controls for sustainable operational management;

• General management of the department/division including determining budget needs and exercising prudence on its implementation

• Ensure timely and comprehensive reporting of audit findings to Executive Management as well as ARC;

• Manage internal audit communication, including communication on audit work plans and internal audit reports;

• Devise a flow mechanism to ensure the tracking of findings and implementation of recommendations;

• Provide regular and accurate reports to key stakeholders in the form of EXCO and the ARC;

• Provide analysis and commentary on the findings of all internal audits;

• Provide considered recommendations that are in line with best practise in improving the internal control environment of Daybreak’s operations;

• Effective management of the internal audit team and alignment of all members to organisational goals; Ensure team members are engaged, allocated suitable roles and performance goals and afforded personal development opportunities;

• Entrench Daybreak values and culture in all activities of the team.

 

Requirements

• Matriculation or Grade 12

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field

• CPA, CIA qualification would be an advantage

• Membership with the internal audit professional body (e.g. IIASA) will be a requirement

• 7 years’ experience in audit, operations, finance, process improvement with a proven track record of completing internal audits in a manufacturing environment will be a requirement

• 5 years team management experience  Appropriate exposure in the Big 4 firms would be an advantage Leadership
